Toyota is one of the companies that support the Hyacinth Macaw Project, launched by the Brazilian biologist Neiva Guedes.
The Hyacinth Macaw is the largest of the parrots and present in many parts of Brazil, especially in the Pantanal wetland. The project was launched in 1990 to protect these important birds.
Toyota do Brasil has supported this important environmental action by donating a Land Cruiser and Hilux Pick-up in order to help increase the project outreach. The company established the Toyota do Brasil Foundation in 2009, and expanded their support by, for example, publishing a book on the project to raise environmental awareness.
Another important contribution Toyota has made is the Center of Sustainability, created in 2013 to guarantee the actions and to help the Hyacinth Macaw Institute to become economically self-sustainable.
